Is Your Crystal Ball Showing A Roth 401(k)?

by Joshua Geary

When does it make sense to turn your company 401(k)plan into a ROTH 401(k)plan so that you could start earning tax free savings through monies invested in the 401(k)?

A ROTH 401(k) makes sense if you want to save more for retirement. Since you’ve already paid the tax ahead of time, the money you withdraw from your ROTH (401)K is all yours, tax free, when the time’s ripe for you to withdraw it.

It also makes sense if you think you’re going to be in a higher tax bracket when you retire. If taxes go up between the regular contributions you make and the time you withdraw them, you shall have paid taxes already when the rates were low, hence protecting you from taxes on the upswing.

Finally, a ROTH 401(k) makes sense if you desire a greater degree of flexibility at retirement. Since we can’t predict what taxes will be like in the years to come, we might as well have control over how much tax we want to pay each year when we start making withdrawals. Maintaining a combination of tax-deferred accounts like the usual 401(k) and traditional IRAs, tax free accounts like the ROTH 401(K) and ROTH IRA, would put us at an advantage when we start using that money for our retirement needs.

Flat Screen TV Comparison: Plasma vs LCD

Flat screen TV is one of the most popular and exciting TV technologies today. At only a few inches thick, flat screen TVs offer unparalleled flexibility and convenience. Older conventional TV’s, in fairness to them, did offer crisp and vibrant images. However, these TV’s, which operate through a cathode ray tube (CRT), suffered from one major drawback, they were bulky. As screen size increased, so did the bulk and weight. However, the TV of old has reached its twilight years. New television technologies have enabled TV manufacturers to create TVs with wider screen size yet still only a few inches thick. Thus, flat screen TVs usher home entertainment into the 21st century.

Flat Screen HDTV basically refers to two technologies: Plasma and LCD. The advances in these two technologies have enabled TV makers to build thin, lightweight TV screens with a large picture area. Plasma and LCD both offer similarly large, lightweight, flat screen TV’s but the similarities are skin deep for their inner workings are different.

Golf Training

A lot of golfers dream of getting better, in fact most of the golfers want to get better and also try and do something about it and probably all the golfers out there imagine that they get better and enjoy playing golf even more than they usually do. The thing is that changes in golf are something that is always a product of hard work and these changes are also unpredictable.

Has it ever happened to you that you were thinking about changing something in your game, not necessarily your swing but maybe something like your rhythm or the approach to the putting green, and you found out that while it was working well on the practice area it fell apart on the fairway, or that it kind of worked but not in the way that you wanted it to work? It happens to a lot of us, but than one day you suddenly discover that it is working, like a magic that occurs on a very serious delay many of these things we want to change in our game take time to materialize and present themselves on the golf course.

This is exactly what golf training aids are thee for, to help us practice and train our golf changes over and over again, until we had done it enough times for it to manifest itself on the golf course, a good golf training aid will do just that. The problems start when you need to practice, and you understand that it is going to take a while until you can tell if this golf training aid really does the job, what makes things even more complicated is that knowing golf you know that what works for one guy does not always work for another, so even if the golf training aid comes highly recommended it does not guarantee results.

Apple’s iPod nano Causes Waves Around the Web

The comparison between the iPod nano and the discontinued iPod mini was inevitable, and CNET was not the only one to make it. Here’s PlayListMag.com: “The second-generation iPod nano is both a welcome step back to the more colorful (and scratch-resistant) days of the iPod mini and a moderate step forward in functionality. This middle-child iPod feels and looks great with its rugged aluminum finish and bright display.”

mp3.com were slightly more refined than their competitors, instead taking a rather neutral ground in their review: “The 2G Nano doesn’t really bring anything new to the table in the fast-advancing world of MP3 players, but the improvements over the original are certainly welcome.”. Also slightly less overwhelmed was PC Magazine, who pointed out minor problems with loud volumes: “the sound quality is very good until you push the volume near the limit”, but they weren’t about to take the wind from Apple’s sails: “When all is said and done, the second-gen iPod nano is an excellent product. It is slim, attractive, sturdy, and easy to use, not to mention the excellent integration with iTunes.”

Overall, most of the reviews of the new second generation Apple iPod Nano have been exactly the way Steve Jobs would have hoped, but the world has forgotten its initial love affair with the iPod nano and this time round is not afraid to come out and criticise its shortcomings. This is a market that now has alternatives, and if you are looking for an MP3 player the iPod nano isn’t necessarily the only or best option available to you.

The Thyroid - Often Overlooked or Misdiagnosed

To treat hypothyroidism, you can try to find an MD, or a DO, who will write you a prescription for Armour Natural, or Cytomel. Synthroid is what is mostly prescribed, but it has been linked to osteoporosis. There is also Lugol which has been found useful in conjunction with thyroid. Or, you can go to a good health food store and get a “glandular” that contains thyroid (along with other glandulars usually). Start with two glandulars/day for a week, and use the above temperature test to determine if that is correct for you.
