Cancer In The Breast And Chemotherapy

The choice of breast reconstruction might involve women who’ve undergone a lumpectomy as another means to balance the look of their breasts. A few of the many factors to consider regarding this type of surgery are:
* It’s a more painful surgery that means a longer recovery time. For some cases in which major radiation and chemotherapy are required the doctors might recommend delaying until treatment has completed. It may be best since afterwards the patient’s weight and shape will have stabilized and the needs for reconstruction will be much clearer.
A vital aspect for any female affected by breast cancer followed by surgery is what she will feel about herself and her appearance afterwards. One option open to women is that of reconstruction. It’s been estimated that nearly thirty percent of these women will choose to do so, and of this number, almost 75 percent will have artificial implants. The remaining women will go with their own body’s tissues which might be removed from the belly area, back or buttocks to form the breast. At occasions, the reconstruction can be a process of both tissue rebuilding combined with implants.
Breast Cancer Treatment,
* It is a more complicated surgery that requires 2 operations and so will mean scheduling additional operating theater time, which may mean delays.
* If reconstruction is performed before treatment, radiation might possibly harden the transplanted muscle and fat making it feel less natural.
Breast enhancement,
Though reconstruction presents some challenges, these issues may be mitigated by the fact that a woman can be looking forward to a more normal breast size and shape.

It’d also be helpful to talk to women who have undergone a similar procedure to discern completely what’s to be expected - if there is some doubt it is also reasonable to leave the rebuilding for another time.

No two women are exactly alike in this matter. Their lifestyle, expectations, personality, financial circumstances and occupation all affect what each person decides. So in order to come to the decision it will be beneficial to talk over these options with all the medical personnel involved in your treatment and surgery.

What Role Do Genetics Play in Breast Cancer?

In identifying the causes of breast cancer it’s been discovered that genetics can play an important role as to whether or not someone is vulnerable to the disease.

To date the two genes that are the indicators are BRCA1 and BRCA2, referring to the Breast Cancer Gene 1 and 2. People have 2 copies of these genes in the majority of the cells of their body. As long as one of these genes in the pair function normally the cells in the breast will maintain their job of guarding.

These genes, made of DNA, keep breast tissue healthy by producing a protein that prevents abnormal cell growth. If both of these genes are then damaged or become damaged, the pattern is set to allow abnormal growths to start rapidly and start to invade healthy tissue.

Two main causes of these abnormal genes are:

It may be damaged, as an example, through harmful influences such as environmental toxins, stress or hormonal problems, poor diet.
It might be inherited where one parent has passed on a mutated gene and the other hasn’t.
In many breast cancer cases a damaged gene is not the main cause. In fact, it might only account for ten percent of all cases.

A few signs to watch for that may point to the likelihood of the inherited abnormal gene include:

There’s breast and ovarian cancer in the family - even more so if found in one person.
A man in the family has had breast cancer as well.
Women in the family have had cancer in both breasts.
There are close blood relatives on either side of the family that had breast cancer before 50.

It is important to be aware that if the abnormal gene does exist in a family member that it is possible for the risk to diminish for the descendents as long as each marriage includes someone who does not pass on an abnormal gene. Also, though there is an increased risk for persons with an abnormal gene it doesn’t mean that one will get cancer. Other factors may weigh in, such as other genes that can work to protect the body, environment, and lifestyle.

If a woman takes a test for abnormal genes or not, it is important to remember that women who develop cancer often don’t have a family history of it. All information, although worthwhile, does not mean a certainty and should only serve to make everyone aware of the requirement to keep acting aggressively against this terrible disease.

Research and evidence shows that regular exercise helps you to prevent many major illnesses. Regular exercise will help you to:

• enhance levels of HDL and reduce the chances of formulating heart disease
• lower high blood pressure which reduces the danger of developing heart disease
• charge the immune system
• build self-confidence and help fend off depression
• helps to maintain a healthy weight and body fat amount

I am a Personal Trainer in Hollywood and can tell you that for many, future illness may not be enough of a motivator for physical activity. Despite the evidence, lots of people find reasons not to exercise. Perhaps you can recognize a familiar excuse in the list below:
• you don’t have some free time due to work or family commitments
• spin]the price of|cost of[/spin] equipment or gym membership fees may be too high and you can’t afford it.
• you don’t have convenient locations or facilities nearby to workout or exercise
• you cannot exercise outside alone due to personal [spin]danger|safety[\spin]
• bad weather conditions
• you have some previous injury or you are worried about getting an injury
• you must workout at night and can’t feel safe or motivated
• too exhausted or just too lazy

Regardless of the excuse, if you don’t find a way to conquer your personal hurdles and start getting physically active the evidence shows that you will pay the price. If you simply won’t do a structured workout then find other ways to get active. Small decisions you make in your everyday life increasing your activity level, boosting your metabolism and increasing your heart rate. You don’t have to run a marathon or lift 300 lbs. Try a simple walk with the dog. Find something to keep yourself as active as possible, even without an exercise routine.

Types of activity that work:
In my role as a LA Personal Trainer I have learned through my clients that a great deal of people think that only vigorous workouts are counted as healthy fitness activity. But great health benefits can be attained from mundain activity without the requirement of special equipment, memberships or formal routines.

When you do moderate intensity exercise your heart rate and breathing will enhance. This is the goal you want to achieve in whatever activity you pick. You will feel heated. But in spite of this you should be able to talk without being out of breath. Being completely out of breath means that you are working yourself too hard. Typical daily tasks, if done at the right pace, can count toward keeping you healthy and preventing illness.

As a Personal Trainer in Beverly Hills I teach my clients that the following are types your goal to stay fit and healthy:
• Take the stairs and don’t use the elevator as much as possible
• If you have to use an escalator then walk up, don’t just ride
• Walk as opposed to driving whenever possible. You will be surprised how many places are within a close walking distance from your home.
• Household chores such as sweeping, moping, vacuuming can be done at a brisk pace
• Gardening is a great way to stay active. Planting, mowing, weeding and trimming are all great activities.
• Enroll in a dance class or join a local amateur sports club
• Walk the dog at a brisk pace. If you have a dog then ask to take out the neighbors dog.
• Chase your kids in the or play Frisbee or catch
• Volunteer to help maintain local park trails or pick up trash

Your capacity to keep up a physical workout like jogging, racket sports, or even cycling and swimming, is determined by your aerobic fitness or toughness. Typically the greater your stamina the greater will be your health benefits. In order to improve your stamina you will have to start gently and then increase the frequency of your workout.

In order to continue your physical workouts you have to stay motivated. Staying motivated will help train your brain and your body. The following are a few tips to help you stay motivated:
• Always keep reminding yourself the reason for that you started the work out.
• Picture that you have achieved your goal. Through visualization you will be able to motivate yourself more and you will be able to achieve your goals.
• Even if you don’t feel enthusiastic at first, exercising releases chemicals into your brain and this have a very strong effect on your mood. It helps to reduce anxiety and depression. So you will feel better if you just get up and do it.

I can tell you as a Movie Star Workout Mentor, whatever it takes and whatever you need that motivates you, do it. Your health and happiness depends on you staying fit and active.

The New Smart Lipo Procedure - Better By 3 Times?

Smart Lipo or SmartLipo as some people call it is a revolutionary fat burning operation that in many cases is set to replace normal Liposuction as a way of removing fatty tissue directly from the body. Smart Lipo is the most recent fat reducing surgical procedure to be approved by the FDA - on 9th November ‘06. It’s already popular after only 18 months of approval. And it looks set to continue to gain in popularity as people discover its advantages.

Here we will explain to you 3 key advantages of SmartLipo over the older forms of operative fat removal like Liposuction.

A Small Surgical Incision

The smart lipo operation only uses a thin wand or instrument, inserted beneath the skin. So there is only the need for a small incision. This ultimately means less trauma for you. Less trauma means less pain, and speedier recovery. Liposuction requires a larger opening since a bigger “hose”-like instrument is pushed beneath the skin.

A Smaller Amount of Bruising and Bleeding

Laser Lipolysis (another name for smart lipo) uses a laser instrument and the force of the surgical laser is what melts the fatty tissue away. It destroys fat cells - permanently in fact. This process is very different to liposuction where the process is more physical, involving suction. So the process is much more traumatic and results in more bleeding and injury than you would see with smartlipo.

Quicker Recovery Duration

Liposuction generally requires at least an overnight bed stay in hospital. And then it can take weeks for the body to adapt to the operation. During that period you’d usually have to wear pressure garments. Smart Lipo in comparison can be taken in your lunch break! You do not always need pressure garments though they will still be recommended in some instances.
